Dear Co-Workers with Christ,

Greetings from the wonderful continent of Africa, in the name of the Lord! So many things have happened that it is hard to know where to start, so permit me try this.

Since returning to Africa, the first of March 2009, I have travelled extensively visiting alumni, friends, churches and pontential students. I’ve learned so much about the experiences of the alumni when they were in school.

At the present, the number of Resource Centers under my office has decreased. This year alone, 17 students graduated in Swaziland, 15 in Zambia and about 9 in Kenya. Thank God that qualified ministers are entering the ministry. A long list of events have happened. Corruption (a common African way of life) amoung Resource Center Directors must be cleaned up but it inserts a reputation that is hard to overcome. The post-election violence three years ago along with the world’s economy has forced many out of school because of lack of payments. And now, an issue of accredition is over the schools.

The Swaziland Resouce Center has really branched. The country can be driven, cattycorner, in about three hours. So the Bible school has chosen key locations to teach, and so increased their population. The Zambia Resource Center is alive and well with over 72 students. In Kenya, we presently are with five Resource Centers: two funtion well; two just starting; and, one trying to bring up old records.

Legality: Just a couple of months ago the Minister of Higher Education gave twenty-one days for all schools to register. Many of the Bible schools have been registered under the Attorney General with what was thought to be a type of religious exemption. Regardless, I did the dutiful thing, obtaining an advocate and investigated what was needed to start the process. A new organization must be registered; resources must be obtained; collaboration must be obtained with an accredited university outside the country; and, lawyers must be paid. A good friend, charged with another Bible school, was arrested for running an illegal univerisity just a few weeks ago. So, with new ferver, we are pursuing the process. All can pray for this monumentous task at a minimum of KSh320,000/= or about $4,267.00USD. This does not include many other things.

Not only am I working with the Bible schools and networking with others; but much of what I do is to minister in Churches, Seminars, Youth Camps, Conferences and many other events. It is really a blessing being in Africa meeting so many wonderful people.

On a last note, as we approach this holiday season, may you and your relatives know the true Christ as you visit with your loved ones. Thank you for your continued help.

In His Service,

David P. Cerar
